Feral Fans

Awesome images abound this week, kids. As I mentioned in my post about this year's Dragon*Con, two Failed Cities fans came dressed as The Feral Twins, my complicated brother-and-sister assassins for whom ultra-violence is high art. I am now fucking elated to give you Slava and Julie from NYC as Ferus and Fera . . .

Trippy, huh? And DIG on Fera's calcium blades. Talk about detail. Julie is actually much closer to my image of Fera than the artwork, mostly because while Jason Flowers is zen-level talented, he has that very common double-D fixation most male comic book artists suffer from. You can check out the full gallery here. They really are some amazing photos.

The only thing that sucked about it is they dressed Saturday and I didn't actually meet these two until Sunday night. FCM fans, if you're going to do Killer Khan shit like this, for the love of all that's good and unholy, E-MAIL me. I'm not at a point in my career where it's just, like, "Oh, yeah, fans in full costume. Seen it." The Failed Cities ain't Farscape.

Yet.

That is totally awesome. (And I had no idea Fera's calcium blades were that frakkin' long.)

I've always pictured her elbow and knee blades (which, unfortunately, were left out of the character illustration. But WE know they're there) being long enough to make her move and look sort of like a praying mantis. In fact, I think that's in there somewhere.

And hey, thanks for listening closely enough to form an opinion, man. Much appreciated.

Holy shit, that is cool. The calcium blades look particularly good.

I know, right? They took the blades from actual sickles and scraped and mache'd them so they looked like bone. My fans are smarter than everyone else's fans. They just are.

Failed Cities

I just finished listening recently and I was about to make a donation on podiobooks.com when it occurred to me I might be able to donate directly to you so you got 100% instead of 75%. If their is a way to donate directly via paypal let me know since Id prefer the author got the full sum.

Thanks and keep writing!

Re: Failed Cities

Wow, man. That's really generous and unbelievably cool of you to think of, whoever you are. I'd actually prefer you go ahead and make your donation to Podiobooks, though. They provide the hosting, take all the hits, and give the Failed Cities a nexus to exist within on its own that it didn't really have before. It's helped a lot (you found it there, didn't you?) I believe in the model, and their author's split is more than fair. So please, help us both out.

You're welcome, and I'm always writing. It's what I do. Keep listening. And don't worry, you'll be able to support my stuff more directly very soon. When there's a book for you to buy.

Re: Failed Cities

Ok, if thats what you thin is best, incidentally I heard about the Failed Cities Monologue from a promo on another podcast (can't remember which), I'll donate on podiobooks and I hope their is a version in print to buy soon.

Thanks
